The best French dinner in Nashville! What to wear, order and convo starters…
Once Upon A Time In France is one of the best date night restaurants in Nashville.
This charming French bistro has a 1920’s vibe, and is owned by a father and son duo. Although it is quite cozy, it’s larger on the inside than what it looks like from the front. The second you walk through the doors you are transported back in time and to a place far from Nashville.
What to wear to dinner:
This is a good spot to moderately dress up for, but nothing too fancy is necessary. Casual-cute will do the trick! On my first visit I wore black pants and a turtleneck with a little red French beret.
What to order for dinner:
Everything I’ve tried has been wonderful! I highly recommend getting the french onion soup - a french classic and a perfect starter leading up to your meal. I’m personally also a big fan of the beef bourguignon! For dessert you HAVE to get the creme brûlée! If by the end of the meal you’re feeling kind of full, they give you a decent amount and you can split it.
Fun conversation starters:
Whether this is a 2nd date or you’ve been married 22 years, here are a couple of fun questions to ask! Where would you like to travel to next, and what would you like to do there that most excites you? What is something you’d like to accomplish in the next 1-3 years? Tell me about a favorite song and why it’s a favorite?
Know before you go:
This restaurant does not take reservations and is VERY popular! Parking is also limited, so you may have to find a spot on the street.
It you want to avoid having to wait a while for a table, I recommend getting there immediately when they open.
Don’t be afraid to try to pronounce the menu items in French! Oftentimes other’s appreciate the effort made in pronouncing items on the menu, even if you don’t get it quite right. :)
They are closed Saturdays and Sundays!
If you’re not ready for the night to end and want to enjoy some great wine in Nashville, head across the street to The Authentique!
The Authentique is another French owned and operated business located in East Nashville (just across the street from dinner!), and it offers over 50 wines! The staff are incredibly kind and hospitable, and you’re sure to enjoy the atmosphere.
This is the coziest of spots to end your perfect date night!
Know before you go:
UPDATE: This place now takes reservations!
They are closed on Sundays and Mondays
Parking is limited, so I recommend parking along a street nearby if the lot is full.
If you’re looking for a Nashville romantic dinner and a place for drinks with a European feel, these two are sure to delight you and your lover!
